Event Information
We are still nailing down details for all of the events, but we wanted to provide a brief overview:
Friday, July 31 - Mehndi
The Garg Family home
(Women only)
Friday morning (July 31) we will be having a Mehndi ceremony for Arti. This is an event for female guests, where henna designs are applied to the bride's feet and hands. There will also be several more henna artists to paint designs onto the hands of guests. Arti will be wearing traditional Indian attire. Please be advised that henna easily stains clothing.
Friday, July 31 - Sangeet
The Townsend Hotel

Friday evening (July 31) we will be having a traditional Indian Sangeet. This is an evening of song and dance in celebration of our marriage. Many guests and family members from both sides will perform dances and music. All guests are invited to this event. If you would like to perform, please contact either one of us to let us know. We would be honored to have you play a role in our celebration. Prior to the Sangeet, Griff's side will arrive at the hotel in a Baraat. A Baraat is the traditional processional by which the groom travels to the wedding. Griff will arrive on a horse with his family and friends accompanying him on foot. After the Sangeet performances we will open up the dance floor and serve dinner. The event is a formal Indian celebration, and Arti and Griff will be wearing traditional Indian wedding attire. Guests are invited to wear either Indian or Western wear.
Saturday, August 1 - Wedding Ceremony and Reception
The Dearborn Inn

The wedding ceremony and reception will both take place on Saturday (August 1) at the Dearborn Inn. It will be a secular, Western-style ceremony. There will be a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony, followed by dinner and dancing in the hotel ballroom. Arti and Griff will both be wearing western-style wedding attire. Guests are again invited to wear either Indian or Western wear.

For those of you travelling from out of town with small children, we are looking into providing on-site childcare during the evening events. Please let us know if you would be interested in using such childcare. If you are interested, we can also provide a list of babysitters that you may contact directly.
